The OSHA Safety Trainer is responsible for developing, planning, and facilitating job-related OSHA safety training to new and existing employees across Mississippi and Alabama. Development may include writing and publishing online training, webinar-based training, and in-person training. This position will identify best workplace practices with the overall goal to eliminate hazards, increase safety awareness and develop safe work habits consistent with OSHA requirements. This position reports to the Technical Training Manager and can be located in MS or AL.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as key liaison/consultant between the Training team and multiple workgroups across company to confirm all required OSHA safety trainings are executed and properly documented
  • Ability to work both independently and as a consultant and partner with multiple workgroups
  • Create and manage safety training for all applicable employees – This includes writing measurable objectives that guide training design for an internal audience (in person or via webinar)
  • Interpret audience comprehension of presented content and adjust training delivery as needed
  • Identify, vet, and coordinate third-party training resources (where applicable): Review curriculums, quote training services, and schedule trainings requiring specialized expertise or qualifications
  • Demonstrate proper equipment operating techniques
  • Determine training effectiveness through skills assessments and/or on-the-job observation
  • Maintain technical knowledge by staying current with OSHA standards, Letters of Interpretation, and relevant publications

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited university
  • Completion of the 30-hour OSHA Outreach Training Program
  • Certified Environmental Trainer – Occupational Safety & Health (CET)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience training OSHA General Industry (Part 1910) or Construction (Part 1926) material
  • Experience developing training materials
  • Technically savvy (MS Office and management software)

 

Additional requirements:

Due to the nature of this position, all candidates must have:

  • A dependable vehicle
  • A clean driving record free of DWI/DUI (within the past 5 years)
  • Few if any moving vehicle violations (e.g. speeding tickets)
  • No bankruptcies or charge offs in the past 3 years
  • A clean drug screening test

 

Location:  This position may be home based in the vicinity of Huntsville, AL; Birmingham, AL; Troy, AL;  Mobile, AL; or Ridgeland, MS

 

Travel:  The travel is close to 25%, with seldom overnight.  Mileage reimbursement
