Gateway Sourcing is assisting this well-established international manufacturing company identify an experienced Network Engineer.

This position reports to the Director of Global IT Infrastructure maintaining the operation and performance of networking environments and systems. This role will work on various network hardware with a bias towards Cisco Routers, Switches, Cisco Load Balancers and Cisco ASA Firewalls to ensure that network devices are implemented, maintained and highly available as deployed for the business’ applications. The Network Engineer, implements, and maintains communications networks within the organization or between organizations and ensures the integrity of high availability network infrastructure in order to provide maximum performance for the users. Responsibilities include locations in USA, Canada and Mexico.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Engineering of systems administration-related solutions for various project and operational needs.
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
  • Contribute to and maintain system standards.
  • Contribute to and maintain security posture of the system in accordance with company’s policies.
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage resources.
  • Oversee, monitor, and maintain the overall availability and performance of a Networking environment, for our customer’s Business Unit; ensuring users can access systems and/or applications and that performance standards are met
  • Perform network system and fault analyses; determine root cause of issues and provide resolution
  • Oversee system integrity and capacity planning
  • Make recommendations for the purchase of new and upgraded network systems
  • Oversee the security of network systems and monitors traffic on networks
  • Remain educated and updated on new network infrastructure technologies and trends

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
  • CCNA Routing & Switching
  • CCNA Security
  • Minimum 5 years of network topology support experience
  • Minimum 5 years of supporting complex enterprise and e-commerce networks
  • Expert knowledge of networking environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent presentation preparation and delivery skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork skills and problem solving
  • Able to work under minimal supervision and escalate issues as appropriate

  • Knowledge in configuring and troubleshooting the following hardware platforms:
    • Cisco routers
    • Cisco switches (Catalyst 3xxx and 45xx and Nexus 5k and 2k)
    • Cisco ASA security appliances (firewall and SSL VPN)
  • Provide Tier II and III/other support per request from various constituencies.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
  • Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted customers.
  • Must pass a criminal and drug background check

 

Necessary Skills:

  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services as necessary.
  • Physical media (Cat5/5e/6, fiber optics (singlemode and multimode), transceivers (GBIC, SFP, X2, etc)
  • WAN technologies: MPLS and Frame-relay
  • LAN switching (VLANs, Spanning Tree, 802.1q, Trunking, Port channels and VPC)
  • Routing (static routes, OSPF, EIGRP), route maps, prefix lists, redistribution and route tagging IP addressing and subnetting (VLSM)
  • Access control lists
  • VPN: (Site to Site and Client based VPN), IPSec and SSL
  • DNS and DHCP
  • SSL certificates and PKI –NAT
  • QoS
  • Netflow and Netflow monitoring
  • SNMP
  • Additional experience working with:
    • ASDM
    • Network Monitoring Tools
    • Cisco Secure Access Control Server (ACS)
    • Visio
    • Wireshark
  • Upgrade and configure system software that supports infrastructure applications or asset management applications per project or operational needs.
  • Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures.
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required.

 

LOCATION:  Mobile, AL; Houston, TX; or Dallas, TX (Las Colinas offices) – not a remote or virtual opportunity

TRAVEL:  This position has global responsibilities, with any travel limited to USA, Canada, and Mexico mostly, and is less than 25% travel required overall.
