Gateway Sourcing is assisting in a search for an Accounting Manager.  This person is expected to perform all aspects of the month-end and year-end financial close, as well as participate in various special projects including system upgrades/implementations and/or process improvements. This role is a leader and strives for excellence.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Accounting/Reporting

  • Provide training, coaching, and mentoring to direct reports
  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the corporate accounting department
  • Lead and execute the monthly close process and ensure work requirements are completed in a thorough, accurate and timely manner.
    • Review/approve, and at times, prepare monthly journal entries along with appropriate back-up, support, and analysis for assigned accounts
    • Review, investigate, identify, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports
    • Ensure compliance with US generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures
    • Review/approve, and at times, prepare monthly account reconciliations
    • Perform monthly detailed account analysis and effectively communicate analysis to Corporate Controller
  • Manage all audit requirements and ensure audit demands are being met in a timely manner
  • Identify and lead process improvement projects, and if need be, develop and maintain effective internal controls addressing “What Could Go Wrongs” in process
  • Effectively communicate to management the impacts of technical accounting areas through accounting memorandum documentation and PowerPoint presentation
  • Assist with due diligence efforts
  • Research new accounting pronouncements and stay current on evolving trends in the profession
  • Drive continuous improvements inside and outside the department to facilitate world class financial reporting
  • Create, review, audit, revise and document policies and procedures for both the accounting department and other areas of the business as necessary

 

 

Planning/Forecasting/Analyses

  • Perform analyses on assigned accounts to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes, and then prepare narrative reports explaining findings
  • Analyze financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, and prepare balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position for other managers

 

Leadership

  • Effectively work within the broader organization at all levels, providing support and advice while improving teamwork and credibility of the Finance organization
  • Leadership of accounting employees which includes:
    • Knowledge and communication of roles/responsibilities and how those enable achievement of company strategy and objectives
    • Know and understand how best to support and motivate each staff member
  • Provide timely and relevant feedback for employee development
  • Develop specific training and development plans, appropriately suited for individuals at their levels
  • Continuously monitor performance to ensure employee(s) are productive, motivated, challenged and developed, and be willing to take difficult actions if/when necessary for those who do not perform to expectations (from both a results and behaviors perspective)

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or other Finance field
  • CPA required
  • Minimum 7 years of general ledger accounting and/or auditing experience
  • Prior manufacturing experience highly desired
  • Excellent verbal and written skills necessary to communicate intricate job-related processes and analysis to internal customers
  • Advanced MS Office skills, including MS Excel’s pivot tables
  • Knowledgeable with ERP or in a multi systems environment, preferably with Oracle and QAD software
  • Experience with Hyperion Financial Management or similar consolidation tool a plus
  • Prior experience in a Private Equity environment a plus
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple functions / organizations

 

LOCATION: Mobile, AL – No remote opportunity

COMPENSATION:  This is a permanent position and compensation will be commensurate with experience
