Gateway Sourcing is assisting a client in search of an Electrical Engineering Manager for Electric Power Steering in support their manufacturing company.

The primary function of the team is to troubleshoot electronic / mechatronic issues and develop repairs for implementation for production.  This includes evaluation of DTCs (diagnostic trouble codes), use of oscilloscopes and other electronics equipment, creating schematics for existing circuits, some design of new circuits as needed, some programming, and support of test stand development.

In addition, the Electrical Engineering Manager will interface with plant and engineering management in Reynosa as well as engineering and program management in the United States.  This will include planning future activities in alignment with company and business unit objectives, setting priorities for the team, ensuring milestones are met, and reporting status updates.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot issues to identify electrical failure modes and implement repairs
  • Competitive analysis of electric steering designs
  • Establish component and end item qualification criteria
  • Develop remanufacturing process for motors, controllers, and other electronic interfaces
  • Develop schematics for internal troubleshooting
  • Develop processes for accessing and linking ECU data to failure modes
  • Support new product development and launches
  • Work with Purchasing to develop / validate supplier capability

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, Electronics, or Systems
  • Minimum 6 years experience as an electrical engineer
  • Fluent in English (Spanish speaking is desirable but not required)
  • Hands-on electronics experience including the ability to train team members in electronics and troubleshooting
  • Engineering leadership experience
  • Experience working with electro-mechanical products
  • Ability to use electronics equipment such as oscilloscope and multimeter
  • Must be willing to work both sides of the border (manufacturing in Reynosa and executive offices in McAllen)
  • (May be US Citizen or Mexican National)

Desirable

  • Experience with automotive manufacturing or remanufacturing
  • Experience with vehicle communications protocols (CAN, LIN, K-Line, FlexRay, Automotive Ethernet)
  • Electric steering or other ECU experience
  • Software Experience – LabVIEW, C#, or similar programming experience
  • Ability to travel to the United States

 

Location:  McAllen, TX /  Reynosa, Mexico
