Job Description

We have a client looking to hire a Welding Research Engineer. Applicants should have Ph.D. degree in Metallurgical, Welding or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline; or a B.S. or M.S. degree and experience at the Associate Research Engineer level.

Location:

The position will be located in Montpelier, IA. A relocation package for a desirable candidate will be considered.

Position

  • Conducts specific tasks on assigned projects or complete projects of limited scope with limited guidance from supervisor or team leader.
  • Develops optimum welding practices for steel plate and chromium carbide overlay products.
  • Assists in the welding qualification of commercial and branded plate products.
  • Serves as a part-time “specialist” in the welding area to assist with customer welding problems.
  • Oversees R&D’s welding and thermal cutting equipment.
  • Interacts with plant operating and technical services personnel on project or technical service activities (planning, execution, and reporting)
  • Assists in the design, execution, and reporting of product/process development or quality improvement trials
  • Prepares clear and concise written and oral reports as required. May present technical papers within and outside the company
  • Provides technical direction and supervision to research technicians and/or co-op students working on assigned projects.

Salary $70K+ commensurate with experience. Major benefits and matching 401K provided. Opportunity for profit sharing as well as bonus of average fifteen percent (not guaranteed)!
