We have a client within the technology industry looking to hire a Software Engineer. The position is located in Mobile, AL.

Our client is part of a larger company and in this division manufactures electronic communication devices with extreme reliability. Their market niche is assured performance with no down time.

POSITION SUMMARY: 

A Software Engineer is part of a team of software engineers responsible for software and/or firmware engineering activity including design, development, unit testing, maintenance, and internal documentation of embedded products on Linux and VxWorks platforms.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science or electronics related field. Associate’s degree with substantial experience considered.
  • Five to Seven (5-7) years professional experience developing complex, network software systems on multiple platforms with multiple languages. C/C++ preferred.
  • Experience programming applications for Linux or VxWorks systems or experience with OS kernel and driver development.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and electronics, and awareness of the constraints of embedded systems.
  • Ability to take initiative and carry out project tasks with minimal supervision
  • Experience with software engineering tools for design documentation, revision control, issue tracking, and project scheduling.   Experience with Git and Jira preferred.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Ability to develop highly reliable and robust software.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to convey technical information in understandable terms.
  • Strong problem solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work as a team member to creatively and cooperatively solve problems and complete tasks.
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers.
  • Must be located within a commutable distance to Mobile, AL

LOCATION: This position is based in Mobile, AL

TRAVEL: Occasional travel including overnight.

COMPENSATION: Salary range is commensurate with experience and full benefits including 401K match.
