Job Description

We have a client in the marine insurance industry looking for an experienced Safety Consultant. The select consultant will have 8+ years of safety management experience and demonstrate successful safety implementation strategies.

The Safety Consultant is responsible for helping clients build, facilitate and implement a safety culture. The consultant must be able to help companies create or improve their safety culture through safety leadership and help members recognize that through effective safety leadership it helps control insurance costs

Responsibilities

  • Develop a leadership support services curriculum that can be customized to multiple clients
  • Incorporate success stories, real life examples or illustrations that demonstrate the benefit of effective safety management leadership into all presentations, training material and presentations given.
  • Develop a library of safety leadership materials that may be accessed by clients (PowerPoint, programs, brochures, manuals, flyers, newsletters etc.)
  • Communicate with existing and prospective clients the values associated with adopting a meaningful safety culture.
  • Serve as an internal source for peers to understand the value of a safety culture and empower them with the ability to communicate that message to clients.
  • Be able to create and deliver presentations to both large and small groups that not only present the material but also engage the audience.
  • Develop a method or procedure to measure the effectiveness of the consultancy.
  • Give safety leadership presentations at internal and client facing meetings such as industry conferences and trade shows.

Technical Requirements

  • Develop professional and state of the art leadership programs and training material that help members improve safety culture and thereby control cost.
  • Understand pricing and underwriting of accounts
  • Understand claims and impact on pricing
  • Understand loss control observations and recommendations. Ability to tie observations and recommendations back to overall account strategy.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum of 8 years experience demonstrating expertise in management leadership with an emphasis on safety management systems.
  • Must be able to travel extensively
  • A 4-year degree and/ or relevant safety/marine/insurance experience

Travel

Road Warrior. Approximately 65% national travel

Location

Preference for Mobile, AL or New Orleans, LA

Compensation:

Salary $80 K+ base commensurate with experience, plus bonus potential and full benefits

Candidates must be U.S. citizens or Green Card holders.
