Job Description

Our client, a major player within the industrial manufacturing industry, is looking to hire a Safety Coordinator.

Location

The position will be located in Montpelier, IA. A relocation package for a desirable candidate may be considered.

Job Description

  • Manages the activities required to obtain and maintain the OHSAS 18001 Safety Management System and certifications for the business unit
  • Coordinates all internal and external audits required by the Safety Management System
  • Manages the Corrective Action Report Program and facilitates development of a ‘corrective action response’ as required
  • Maintains the facilities compliance calendar
  • Maintains safety performance statistical records and/or charts for facility performance
  • Works with all departments to ensure compliance with all regulatory programs within the Safety Management System
  • Tracks all preventive and incident corrective actions that are completed by the departments
  • Works with the departments to ensure JSA/SOP are reviewed/updated and posted to the safety Sharepoint site as required by the Safety Management System
  • Audits safety programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and implementation within facility operations as it relates to applicable local, state, and federal regulations
  • Assists with workers compensation, loss prevention and general liability issues

Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelors degree in Safety, Environmental Sciences, Natural Sciences or Engineering and 2-4 years experience managing a comprehensive safety program or
  • Bachelors degree in a related field and 5-7 years of experience managing a comprehensive safety program
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of and the ability to interpret and apply complex local, state and federal regulations from governing agencies such as OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, ASME
  • Requires experience conducting inspections/audits of safety-related programs, policies and procedures for regulatory compliance, as well as investigating accidents/incidents
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint preferred
  • OHSAS 18001 experience/lead auditor trained preferred

Salary $ 55K+ commensurate with experience. Major benefits and matching 401K provided. Opportunity for profit sharing as well as bonus of average fifteen percent (not guaranteed)!
