In this role you will be providing accounting and tax advice to an emerging family office which encompasses a wide range of entities and endeavors. You will be an active participant in the future growth of the family office and the expansion of services it offers. You will also build and manage a team of other tax professionals as the family office continues to grow. This opportunity will appeal to those that are currently in public accounting and want to get away from a traditional firm environment and have more control on the trajectory of your career. The family office serves multiple generations involved in several industries such as real estate development and management, professional services, retail businesses, investments, trust holdings and not-for-profit. This position will lead and direct a wide array of tax engagements that are specific to each family’s need; therefore, candidates must have a broad base of professional skills including (but not limited to) establishing workload priorities, organizing and planning individual projects, supervising others, working independently, and analyzing and researching complex matters to reach an appropriate conclusion.
Essential Functions:
- Tax preparation services including corporate, partnership, trust, individual and not-for-profit
- Research tax issues and resolutions/recommendations for those issues
- Stay abreast of developments and changes in tax law and accounting procedures
- Direct, coordinate, schedule, and exercise functional authority for planning, organizing, coordinating, and interfacing with family members to ensure all deadlines are met
- Communicate and interface with family members to ensure the family’s best interests are achieved
- Assign, track and manage tasks/projects that are sent to staff to prepare
- Take an active role in developing staff
- Maintain public certification and adequate Continuing Professional Education units
Requirements:
- Certified Public Accountant; Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred
- Minimum 10 years of public accounting experience with a concentration in tax engagements
- Minimum 4 years supervisory experience
- Excellent oral/written communication skills
- Well-developed decision-making skills and initiative to make those decisions
- Work calmly and effectively under pressure
- Prioritize a heavy workload and remain organized
- Demonstrated leadership ability
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems creatively
LOCATION: Mobile, AL. Not a remote opportunity

COMPENSATION: Position is full time, permanent. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and includes excellent benefits.
