Job Description

Our client has asked us to help source a Buyer. The desired candidate MUST have 3+ years experience in a manufacturing setting with responsibilities of procuring raw materials, service contracts, supplier relations, and transportation / logistics.

Location

The position will be located in Montpelier, IA. A relocation package for a desirable candidate may be considered.

Position

  • Perform assigned tasks directed at achieving total cost reductions in material and contracted services costs in support of the manufacturing process:
  • Carry out the purchasing processes necessary to provide the proper goods and services, as required by operations, on a timely, competitive, and cost effective basis, such as (but not limited to) purchase order preparation and invoice discrepancy resolution
  • Ensure inventory levels of all items purchased are in accordance with established purchasing practices
  • Perform supplier audits when necessary to insure compliance to company standards and to certify suppliers and products
  • Prepare cost savings reports as directed
  • Manage projects as assigned
  • Procure all purchased commodities and services by:
  • Maintaining purchased product and service quality
  • Accounting for non-conforming purchased material disposition, including scrap
  • Developing supplier bases for assigned commodities, which ensure viable alternatives and continued sources of supply as well as competitive pricing
  • Carrying out the disposition of obsolete materials, including selling or obtaining credit from suppliers, where possible

Required

  • two-year degree in business, accounting or procurement
  • minimum of three years of heavy manufacturing industry experience,
  • Experience in purchasing MRO supplies including hand tools, safety supplies, PVF, PT, IT and other contracted services
  • Candidates must have exceptional integrity
  • Negotiation experience along with data-analysis, and strategic-thinking
  • Candidates must have good problem-solving, communications, and computer skills

Preferred

  • Ideal candidates will hold a four-year degree and one or more of the following designations:
  • Possess a Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) and/or Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM)
  • Preference will be given to those who have steel industry experience
  • Project management experience

Compensation:

Salary $50K+ commensurate with experience. Major benefits and matching 401K provided. Opportunity for profit sharing as well as bonus of average fifteen percent (not guaranteed)!
